One More Saturday Night

For me this one is the perfect way to end the week with a huge bang. Easily one of my favorite Playin's. What Phil does here just cements his place among the top tier of bass players. Outstanding is a huge understatement. I call that stretch The Widowmaker (if you happen to be married to a chair). Many Playin's that go over 20-25 minutes can lose me as they start wandering, but this one is different. Phil and Billy refuse to let it get off track, teaming up to drive the train with an unrelenting and thunderous back beat that Jerry seems to surrender to, happy to let them run the beast. And the entire run from WRS through China Doll continues the mayhem. Doesn't get much better.

I hope my tab at Ikea has some room left cause this one will leave little intact.

The ability to make it through an entire Seastones is a true testament to your dedication.

Kudos.

Thanks SDH, Been a long time since I streamed some GD while working (been on an AOD, Strangefolk, Keller W jag), I do listen in the car pretty often but get "stuck" on the few discs floating around the floorboards.

Decided to stream this and am really loving the soundcheck jam, been Waaaaayyyyyyyy to long since I listened to this show!!

Thanks Again

No arguments with anything you state, would just add that what make this recording so unique is that soundcheck jam. It really lets you feel the band's '74 jazz-infused psyche. It has always been one of my favorite Grateful Dead recordings.

Definitely!!! It's just wonderful. I wonder how many others like that they might have done that never got recorded.
